The answer depends on the treatment, your individual response, and what you’re working toward.
Why Timing Matters More Than Most Patients Realize
Injectables are not instant. Tox takes 10–14 days to fully settle into its final result. Filler settles over the first week or two as any initial swelling subsides and the product integrates with surrounding tissue. If you book too close to an event, you may not be seeing your best result when you need it.
On the flip side, booking too early means you may be past peak result timing for the event. Understanding this window is part of what separates a strategic injectable plan from a reactive one.
Timing for Fall Events
Neurotoxins take 10–14 days to reach their full effect. For most patients, peak smoothing occurs somewhere in that 2-week window and the result typically lasts 3–4 months.
For fall events, this means:
• For an October event: Book your Tox appointment in the last two weeks of September
• For a Thanksgiving or late-November event: Book in early-to-mid November
• For a December holiday party: Book in mid-November to early December
If you’re a regular Tox patient, your provider already knows your response time and typical duration — which makes planning even more precise. For new patients, we build in a bit of extra buffer so we have time to assess and touch up if needed before your event.
Filler Timing for Fall Events
Dermal filler has different timing considerations than neurotoxins. Most of the visible result from filler is immediate, but there’s typically some swelling in the first few days — particularly in areas like the lips and undereyes. The final, settled result is generally visible at 7–14 days post-treatment.
Guidelines for fall filler timing:
• Allow at least 2 weeks before a major event for swelling to fully resolve and the product to integrate
• Cheek filler and facial contouring often look their best at 2–4 weeks post-treatment
• Lip filler tends to settle fastest — most patients are comfortable with the result within 5–7 days, but 2 weeks remains the safest buffer before a photographed event
If you’re considering both Tox and Filler, scheduling them in the same appointment is efficient and entirely safe. Your provider will discuss sequencing.
